Landscaping

525 Lake Cove Pointe incorporates a landscape design that aligns itself to LEED guidelines with the best principles of ‘Florida Friendly’ design.   It’s was purposefully planned to be both ecologically friendly and sustainable.  In other words, for the homeowner, the landscape is low maintenance, less expensive and requires the least amount of water.  IDL worked with Mark Warriner, an award-winning landscape designer, to create a plan which uses trees and shrubs specifically chosen for the site, with preference to native species and drought tolerant varieties.   Special attention was given to using plants that present a colorful display.  A rain garden in back acts as a natural rain harvesting device, while also attracting butterflies.  The front transitions into the surrounding suburban neighborhood with pleasing bedlines that reflect the balanced design of the house.  The half moon driveway is constructed with permeable pavers that reduce harmful stormwater runoff. The site meets all regional water management criteria; indeed, it is a model for the future in this regard.
